Acting Success Seminar

This past weekend I went to the "Acting Success Now" seminar by Robert and Michelle Colt, and I really enjoyed it.

I feel like I met some new friends, and maybe some new business partners; you may know that I started ENTREPERFORMERS with the idea of teaching some of the BUSINESS lessons that the acting teachers forgot to tell us about.

Maybe I can weave what they are doing with what I was doing.

This weekend was a great seminar, all about using your mind to HELP you rather than hinder you, and using the power of CHOICE. I learned about "Releasing" thoughts and emotions that aren't resourceful, and about focusing on beliefs that are resourceful.

Mind you it is ALL stuff I have learned before- and even teach- but like Bruce Lee, I want to get all the perspectives and techniques I can so I can be better at it.

Anyway, while I was there, I met a "Julie", who had signed up for ENTREPERFORMERS a long time ago.

She was SO nice and told me how much she enjoyed the messages I used to email out, and that she had wondered where I went. She told me she found them inspiring and that they helped her sometimes....

Well...

That was great to hear!

Mark Twain said he could live two months on one good compliment.

I should have enough for a year, but it got me thinking that I really DO want to go forward and build Entreperformers up again; I just don't wanna be the figurehead.

I dunno why- maybe some limiting beliefs I have about how much success I should have before I start doing that or something.

That reminds me- one of the sayings Robert gave us this weekend:

"No one likes being 'should' upon"

Also- "Procrastination can be a way of not liking telling yourself what to do"

That one is BIG for me.. like I say to myself "We should really do this" and then I answer "Don't tell me what to do!"

Weird that I say "we" and "me", huh? What can I say, I'm a Gemini!

Anyhow, I really recommend the Colts' seminar, and watch out- I may just start writing to actors again!!

Luckily, I'm Grateful...

I keep hearing that we should feel "grateful for what we have", so we can open ourselves up to getting more.

And I like more.

However, I've been struggling a bit with feeling grateful, and I'll tell you why:

I have a HARD time feeling grateful for something that I have WORKED for.

If I go to the gym, and I get my body working the way I want, and looking the way I want, should I feel GRATEFUL? I mean, don't I DESERVE that?

Isn't that what is SUPPOSED to happen?

If I work for it, and plan, and have discipline, and eat right, and all of that, I don't see why I should feel GRATEFUL for it.

But I DO want to feel grateful. So, I asked myself:

"Self, when DO you feel grateful?"

and discovered that I felt grateful when something comes out of the blue- when I'm lucky.

But I hear there's no such thing as luck:

"Luck is when preparedness meets opportunity"- Seneca

"There's no such thing as luck"- Obi-wan Kenobi

So it looks like I was stuck-
Until I changed my mind.

If I'm LUCKY that I had the discipline to go to the gym, and I feel LUCKY that it worked out- then I can feel GRATEFUL for it.

If I decide that I am LUCKY that I married the best woman ever, and LUCKY that I get to be an actor, and LUCKY that I read alot, and learn, and start businesses, and write books, etc- then I can feel GRATEFUL for all of that!

SO, I have decided that I am a VERY, VERY, VERY lucky guy, and I automatically feel grateful for it.

I might start to feel guilty for all my luck- BUT NOT YET!!!

Moreover, it used to bother me if someone called me lucky, because I felt it took away from me somehow- like it invalidated anything. But now, I can say "Yup- I sure am lucky!", and then even HE believes it- and I get LUCKIER1!!

So, from now on, I'm a LUCKY guy-

and I'm GRATEFUL for it!!

Legal sucks- MARKETING ROCKS!!!

The Legal Department of Warner Bros. was going to shut this down.

They were going to send a "cease and desist", or sue them.

Then marketing saw it:

THAT'S why I love marketing-

and John McClane!

Creating the atmosphere- FOR LOVE....

Yesterday I was watching a special on space travel and all of that, and they were talking about how we can "terraform" a planet like Mars to sustain Human life.

Apparently, the only thing really standing in the way of that is creating an atmosphere.

An atmosphere is just the air and water that gets trapped orbiting our planet that keeps heat in, and allows it to rain and things like that. An atmosphere is essential for life on our planet. So, how does one create one?

Simple- Hair spray.

Huh?

Yup it seems that the problem with our atmosphere is that it's gotten "too thick" because of chloro-fluorocarbons that are released from aerosols.

But those same particles that are making OUR atmosphere too thick, can be used to CREATE AN ATMOSPHERE on Mars!

So- our HUGE problem has actually become a HUGE solution.

Again.

Let THAT remind you that problems in your life, MAY be the solutions too!!
